You know we’re all about putting you onto the best skincare and beauty staples out there like our Caffeinated SPF and Depuffing Oil. And if you’re in a panic over a skincare situation like dehydrated skin? We’ve got your back.

The condition of your skin can be a reflection of your overall health. While well-hydrated skin looks healthy and radiant, dehydrated skin can look dull and gray. Plus, dehydrated skin can exacerbate signs of aging like fine lines.

Whether it’s indicating you have a skin condition, you’re dealing with inflammation, or your skincare routine needs revamping, it’s totally crucial to get your skin back on track.

But we get it, it’s hard to cure dry skin when you’re dealing with stress, pollution, chemical irritants, weather, and other factors that might contribute to dry skin. It’s like, what the hell is a girl to do?

You know we’d NEVER leave you out to dry. Come, grab a sheet mask, and let’s get you glowing.

How To Hydrate Face Overnight: Renew Your GLOW

Start with a non-drying skin cleanser.

If you’ve got dry skin, the first step back to glowy, dewy skin is to check out your cleanser. Is it drying you out? You deserve a cleanser that doesn’t work against you.

Lauryn recommends a double-cleanse to leave your skin hydrated and clean. You’ll start with a cleansing face oil, then wash your face as you normally would. This cleans your skin very thoroughly yet completely gently, allowing your skin to retain maximum moisture.

Skip the exfoliant + the hot shower.

If your goal is immediate hydration, exfoliation is probably not gonna get you there. It has SO many benefits, don’t get us wrong, but it can also strip your skin of its natural oils.

If you NEED to exfoliate, use a gentle chemical exfoliant like glycolic acid, which acts as both an exfoliant and a humectant, drawing water to your skin to help hydration. Glycolic acid also stimulates collagen production, leading to firmer, plumper, better-looking skin.

Another thing that can strip your skin of its natural oils is hot water. Taking too hot of a shower or bath can pull that water right out of your skin. So sorry to all our readers who love to scorch themselves when they shower. It’s time to turn that dial the other direction.

HOT TIP: Washing your hair with cold water actually has a ton of benefits, so cool showers are like a 2 for 1 skin & beauty treatment. Give it a try.

Apply your skincare products onto damp skin.

Hydrated skin needs water. But applying skincare products to damp skin to seal in the H2O gets missed often in our skincare routines.

When you use hydrating and moisturizing products, they are typically either humectants, emollients, or occlusives. Humectants draw water to your skin, emollients smooth your skin, and occlusives seal in moisture.

But, none of these types of products work without some water to support them. If you’re applying onto dry skin, you’ll find yourself needing to apply over and over and over again. When you apply onto damp skin, the moisture can last.

Use a hydrating facial serum, oil, or cream.

Check out your skincare products. Are they targeted for hydration, or are they serving another purpose? If you want to get moisturized skin overnight, you’ll want to be using products that hydrate the skin before you lock them in with an occlusive or emollient.

HOT TIP: Let your skincare products dry before you add the next layer.

Apply an overnight face mask.

One of the best ways to hydrate the skin on your face overnight is to use a product that’s designed to do that! Overnight face masks will likely feel heavier than products you’d put on your face during the daytime, but that’s just so they can do their job and buff up your skin’s moisture barrier. Gracie Norton just said on The HIM & HER Show that this overnight mask is the most effective one she’s ever used.

But, if you’re going to use an overnight mask, the next tip is CRUCIAL.

Sleep with a silk pillowcase.

Some materials, like cotton, absorb a ton of moisture, essentially pulling all that great hydration right out of your face. Silk absorbs less moisture than cotton and other materials, keeping your skincare on your face and off your pillowcase.

Even better? Silk pillowcases help smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. Who needs Botox when you’ve got silk pillowcases, right?

Plus, silk pillowcases are great for your hair as well. Trust us, there’s a reason why every beauty expert recommends a silk pillowcase. Using a silk pillowcase is like getting a beauty treatment while you sleep.

And while we’re at it, a silk eye mask isn’t a bad idea, either. If you’re going to be wearing an eye mask, it’d better be a silk one.

Boost moisture with a humidifier.

Sometimes, you do all you can in your skincare routine, and you’re still as dry as the desert. If so, a lack of moisture in the air could be the problem. Humidity levels absolutely affect the level of moisture in our skin. Dry air can weaken our skin’s protective barrier by pulling moisture out of our skin.

Don’t sweat it, though. (Seriously, you’ll lose more hydration). A humidifier will add moisture back into the air and may boost the moisture in your skin, too.
