These are the cheapest cushions I could find on Amazon, so I was not surprised to find them very flat. Other reviews have complained about this, but for the price, one shouldn't expect much better. Sitting on this is much better than sitting on the ground, but putting it on a chair doesn't feel much different either as a cushion on the seat or behind the back.
These don't quite take up the entire seat on the chairs in my classroom, but a regular-sized person's butt should fit on one cushion just fine. They hang off the back a bit just because I tied the strings to the back legs of the chair. Without the strings, they're a perfect size for a chair, I think.
Speaking of tying them down, a few of the tie-on strings broke once they were tied to the chair and a student tried to pull a cushion off of the seat. Beware that the strings are easy to rip off when pulling with any force at all (as an adult or an 8th grader, that is; I don't think elementary students would want to or be able to rip them off), which is a good thing if you don't want the strings, but a bad thing if you want these to stay tied in place.
