Don't Bother with Thinner Mats – This is the One You're Looking For

My search for the perfect home exercise mat was a bit of a journey. My wife has the black version of this BalanceFrom mat, and while I was impressed with its quality, I was determined to find something a bit bigger. I ended up trying a few other brands, and to put it bluntly, they were trash. They were so thin that it felt like I was just laying on the hard floor, making them useless for any real exercise.
Needless to say, I learned my lesson. I came right back and ordered this blue BalanceFrom mat, and I'm so glad I did. This is top-quality!
What Makes It Great (The Pros):
* Legitimate Thickness & Comfort: The 2-inch high-density foam is the real deal. Unlike the flimsy competitors, this mat provides genuine cushioning and support. I use it for all kinds of stretches and floor exercises, and it’s consistently comfortable.
* Superb Portability & Storage: The tri-fold design is brilliant. It folds up in seconds, and the carrying handles make it incredibly easy to move around or slide into a closet for storage. It’s perfect for keeping our living space uncluttered.
* Easy to Clean: The moisture-resistant vinyl surface is a huge plus. A quick wipe-down after a workout is all it takes to clean, which is awesome for hygiene and maintenance.
One Minor Consideration:
The only exercise I find a bit difficult on this mat is push-ups. Because the foam is so thick and comfortable, my hands tend to sink into it, which feels a bit unstable. I wish I would have thought of this years ago!!!

I was living in a cargo trailer for 6 years and bought a camping mat to sleep on (I had finally recovered from using a wheelchair and hospital bed for 2 years after an auto accident). For the first 3 months I was in excruciating pain every morning when I woke up and it would take me quite a while to get off the floor. Now I live in a travel trailer but am having a queen size mattress is proving nearly as difficult with the pain.

I started looking for something in between a camping mat (or bare floor) and a mattress. Low and behold, I just a week ago started looking at gymnastic mats and found this one (2” thick rather than a camping mats for 1/4” – 1/2”). The price is within my budget and the reviews were pretty good so I thought I’d give it a try. I also like the color blue and that was one of the color choices! Can’t beat that!

I bought a purple one for my Mom too (we were suffering from the accident together and we still live together and she too has been in a lot of pain).

The mats came fast and when I looked it over, the stitching seemed durable enough and the material thick enough and I appreciate that I didn’t have to air it out (it had a slight odor but it didn’t make me sick). I tested it out last night and this morning I didn’t want to get up, NOT BECAUSE OF THE PAIN BUT BECAUSE I WAS IN SO MUCH LESS PAIN!

This would make a nice camping mat if you don’t mind it’s about the size of a folding table (a little thicker); it’s far better on the joints and more durable too.

I was trying to leave a separate review for the purple mat my Mom used, but the review seem tied together, so I guess I’ll have to include it as an update:

Mom says she loves the color! There was a slight odor, but with a quick wipe down (with lemon essential oil) the odor was gone. She’d been sleeping in a 0gravity lawn chair for 2 weeks and this may was a nice change. She slept much better, didn’t have to get up so much in the night, and says it’ll be her new bed from now on. It’s thicker padding and the cover and stitching seem to be heavy duty. Along with my review, she’s also giving her mat a 5 star!
