A must have for sensory seeking kids with ASD! Best weighted blanket ever!

Despite my fears of being too heavy for his weight , I bought for my 8 year old son. Has ASD and needs tons of pressure to sleep. This blanket was a godsend. Since our son was 3, we have moved up from 5 lbs ->7 lbs ->12 lbs, now 20 lbs. While quite heavy, it turned out to be just the pressure he needed as his nighttime restlessness was increasing. It’s large enough that all 20 pounds is not truly on top of him. The weight is evenly distributed across the blanket.

He loves it and immediately wanted to be smothered by it! He falls asleep in under 10 minutes now, sometimes less! Parents of kids on the spectrum know how miraculous that is!

The blanket itself is also good quality and very soft. Recommends hand washing, however I wash on delicate setting and dry low heat. Have washed about 5 times thus far and is holding up great. Highly recommend. I have the same one in burgundy for myself – 12 pounds. I love that it has different materials on either side. Can be used winter or summer. My son decides every night if he wants the “cold side” or “warm side”.

I genuinely wasn’t sure if a weighted blanket would make much of a difference, but somehow it does!

The first thing I noticed when I took it out of the box was how HEAVY it was! I probably could have gone for lighter than the 15lbs, but honestly? The weight doesn’t feel all that heavy when it’s over you. It just feels nice and snug, and somehow safe. I don’t know how else to describe it!

I’m using it over an electric throw, and I’m impressed with how much heat it traps in. At the same time, without the electric blanket, it doesn’t feel too hot for summer, either!

I was nervous about paying so much for a blanket that might have done nothing, but it was well worth it for the extra comfort and sounder sleep.
